    Summer

The pastoral Alpine region of Gitschberg Jochtal consists of nine unique villages and 30 Alpine pastures. The small, quaint villages are located in the intersection between the large valleys of Valle Isarco and Val Pusteria, on the south face of the Zillertaler Alps.
Situated harmoniously in the beautiful landscape amidst gorgeous surrounding views of the Fundres mountain, the thirty Alpine pastures of this region can be experienced day after day in their rich variety. They offer a wide range of possibilities for active holidays, as well as historical treasures and cultural events in both summer and winter time. In order to best enjoy the wide offering of the holiday destination Gitschberg Jochtal, you may obtain the Almencard free of charge directly from your host. The Almencard is free of charge and valid from end of May to mid-October, offering you free and unlimited use of all funiculars and cable cars, as well as unlimited use of the bus line running from the main town of Rio di Pusteria/Mühlbach up to the Rodengo Alpine pasture [Rodenecker Alm] as well as free access to the rich side program of events. The many features of the Almencard all bring you closer to the high mountain peaks. Next to a variety of guided hiking tours, such as the farm trail hiking tour and the honey bee excursion there is also a rich program of events designed for children: climbing courses for children, medieval games in the Rio Pusteria Close and horse-drawn tours.

These highlights you should anyhow have seen during your vacation:
    – Fanealm... the Most Charming Pastoral Village in South Tyrol
    – Gitschberg... Gorgeous Surrounding Views of More than 500 Mountain Peaks
    – Rodenegg Castle... the Earliest Secular Mural Paintings in Central Europe
    – Mountain Farms in Fundres... Experience Unique Local Agricultural Traditions
    – Rio di Pusteria... Shopping and Cappuccino in the Atmosphere of a Medieval Market Town
